CBGBs, New York, NY - 5/3/01

This was one of the most amazing shows I've ever been too. It was at CBGBs - a tiny little club in Manhatten with a tiny little stage and hardly any room for an audience - which worked out fine for the number of people at the show. It was a showcase show and there were apparently important record people there. I got there too late to see the first band play but the Mayfield Four went on around 7:45pm. The sound was wonderful - much better than the gym I saw them in last week! I just can't say enough how impressed I am with the new songs - I can now even remember how part of "High" goes after only hearing it twice! The guys really seemed to be having fun up there. During one of the songs, either something was wrong with Myles' guitar or he just didn't feel like playing it any more because he all of the sudden took it off put it down on the stage*, grabbed the mike and knocked over the mike stand. It was all very rock star-ish :) And I loved it when Myles would go over and sing with Alessandro in his mike! They only played eight songs: Backslide, High, Lyla, Eden, Flatley's Crutch, Loose Canon, Mars Hotel, and Sick & Wrong (I got the setlist from Ed, the sound guy).

Okay, I later found out it was actually out of tune.
