The Mayfield Four Net: News

2005 - 2004 - 2003 - 2002 - 2001 - 2000

    • Marty seems to be keeping pretty busy. He's currently playing with three bands. His band Holfiller (formerly Tommy Holfiller) has posted a song, Let You Know, from the upcoming album on their website. You can also see them perform a benefit show at the Big Easy, Spokane WA, on Nov.6. He's also playing with Spokane artist Annie O'Neil and continues to play with the Jim Boyd Band (formerly Kyo-T).
    • Alessandro has released two new tunes on myspace.com/modwheelmood. They are definitely worth clicking over and listening or downloading. Zia again plays drums on these tracks.
    • Myles' new band, Alter Bridge continues it's successful tour across the US - with quite a few sold-out shows. Myles has also had some interesting things to say about his solo project, and the end of the Mayfield Four.
        spokane7.com:
Mayfield Four split shortly after 2001's "Second Skin" because "it felt like the machine was pushing the band," Kennedy said. The next year Kennedy was going through rock withdrawals after he gave up music because of tinnitus, a constant ringing in the ears common in rock musicians. Kennedy's condition didn't worsen, nor did it get better, but he couldn't keep away from music for long. When Tremonti and company approached him about Alter Bridge, he already was hard at work on a solo album more in the vein of Massive Attack meets All That. Although he plans to finish the album, he gladly put it on the backburner to join them, that is, once he got to know them.
        Pulse Weekly:
PULSE WEEKLY: I read that before Mark contacted you to join Alter Bridge, you never thought you’d be in a rock band again. Why? Did something bad happen with Mayfield Four?
MYLES KENNEDY: I was burned out with the whole rock industry at that point. I needed some downtime to reevaluate and reassess, which was good. The timing was perfect when Mark called, and once I got to know these guys, it was the obvious choice for me.
PW: What about the solo project you were working on when Mark called? Did you shelve that idea altogether?
MK: Right now my focus is Alter Bridge, and eventually maybe I’ll put some of that stuff on a soundtrack. It’s totally different from what we’re doing here, so there’d be really no way to use it. Maybe [I’ll] throw it on a website someday, just so people can hear it.
        Las Vegas Weekly:
hat about that solo album, which Kennedy describes as "Daniel Lanois meets Massive Attack"? "Maybe in the future it'll be out there somewhere. Maybe I'll just throw it on a movie soundtrack, who knows?" he says with uncertainty.
His songwriting, which was the driving force behind the Mayfield Four and is virtually nonexistent on the Alter Bridge album? He hopes it'll be represented on Alter Bridge's next effort, but he's not sure. "We'll see what happens," he says.

    • The Mayfield Four boys are all keeping busy with their new projects:
      - Zia is working with Mark Anderson of 13 on a new project. They've been writing and trying to get some new songs together.
      - Marty has been playing with Jim Boyd & Kyo-T - they have a show coming up at Two Rivers Casio on July 3rd. He is also recording on another project with a musician from Detroit.
      - You can now hear the first single for Myles' new band Alter Bridge on VH1.
      - And Alessandro's band has put six live tracks up for download on modwheelmood.com

  • Myles Kennedy's new band, Alter Bridge, has officially been announced today by MTV. The band consists of Myles Kennedy and former Creed members Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall, and Scott Phillips. Pictures from their recording sessions are on the official Alter Bridge website. The album, One Day Remains, hits stores August 10!

Myles seems very excited about this new project! Mark Tremonti was the primary song writer on this album, but Myles had input on about half the songs. Stop by the message boards and discuss what you think of the news!

Zia was back down in LA recently, recording drum tracks for modwheelmood's new album. Check out some pictures from the session at modwheelmood.com:

We now have guitar tabs on our new Tabs page for Don't Walk Away - thanks Harold!

Well, it's still quiet in the Mayfield Four camp... the main reason I haven't updated this website with anything significant it a while. But we will be adding guitar tabs for Don't Walk Away soon. I'll also be starting up with the Band of the Month feature again soon. Keep checking back.
