When did the Mayfield Four form? And where did they get their name? They formed in Spokane, WA in July 1996. Late in 1996, they recorded a demo "Thirty Two Point Five Hours" which caught the attention of Epic records. In 1997 they were signed to Epic records. One article inaccurately reported that the group was named after the elementary school where they all met. The actual name history is in two parts: "May" is from the name of a bar they used to hang out in and "field" is in reference to Matt Pinfield (MTV DJ). C2. Did they all go to the same high school as well? Yes - the Four graduated from Mead High School, in Spokane, Washington. C3. What other bands were they in before the Mayfield Four? Myles and Craig were in a band called Citizen Swing that put out two albums: Cure Me With The Groove (1993) and Deep Down (1995). Prior to that, Myles was in a band called Bittersweet, with Zia, while they were in high school. Zia was also in a band called Shovel Jerk out of Couer d'Alene, ID, and for a time with Inflatable Soule before MF4. Marty was in the Seattle band, Give. C4. When are their birthdays?
