Radio interview with Myles, by Gustav & Daria. (They're going to be G or D for ease of typing, and Myles will be M)

G: Myles!

M: Yeah!

G: How's it goin'?

D: Myles from Mayfield Four, very nice to talk to you

M: very nice to talk to you

D: So, um, the new, the new, I guess disk, is that the right thing to call it?

M: That's the correct term these days, yeah.

G: *chuckling*

D: I never know. Second Skin, it describes it in this one article I read, actually, I think it was off your website. (Describes it) As a "sonic monument to the true days of rock".

M: *chuckling like he is a li'l embarassed* If that ain't blown up, I don't know what it is (much chuckling from all three)

D: Myles, what do you consider the true days of rock?

M: The true days of rock...the Monkees. I consider those the true days of rock. (Daria chuckles...) Y'know, I dunno...I mean, I love the old Zeppelin, the old Stones stuff, but each generation has their rock. So, as long as it's a guitar, drums and bass, we're rockin'.

G: No synthesizer?

M: Ehh, you know, I don't mind the synthesizer as long as it doesn't make the guitar extinct, I'm fine.

D: Myles is very diplomatic...

G: He is, that was very diplomatic of you, Myles. 'Cause synth players normally don't "rock", quote unquote.

D: oh, oh I think that they do (you'd have to hear their tones to really *get* what they're saying, LOL...funniest damn morning people)

G: No, no I don't think they do (this guy is a HUUUUUUGE Depeche Mode fan)

D: Now Myles, you guys all grew up together in Spokane?

M: Yeah, Spoke-Vegas?

D & G: *chuckles*

D: Do you um, were you guys too young for the whole huge Seattle freak out thing? Like the big Seattle sound, all the bands coming from there at once? Did you guys kind of miss the craziness of that thing, and come at the outside?

M: No, I wouldn't say we missed it, a couple of the guys in the band, they actually lived in Seattle when that whole thing happened. They'd already moved there by that point. I stayed in Spokane, I kinda rebelled against the whole thing. That was their scene, it was a great scene, but it wasn't mine, and I wasn't going to jump on the bandwagon. I think when that whole thing was going on, I was trying to find my voice. I went really heavy into the whole R & B thing there for a while, listening to old school Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

D: Is it true that you taught yourself to sing by listening to Stevie Wonder records?

M: That is how I learned, that was exactly it....that and Burt Bacharach

D& G: *much chuckling* G: Myles, I can just imagine you going *singing in falsetto* "isn't she loooovely..."

D: Now, did you sing in front of the mirror? Like with the upside down brush mic? Or did you just like sit on the bed next to the record player?

M: Ummmm, yeah, I think I did a lot of that, y'know, singing in the shower

G: I was gonna say, did you do the Ferris Bueller spike-up-the-hair-in-a-mohawk singing in the showerhead thing?

M: *chuckling* Yeah.... A lot of singing while I cleaned my dads' horse stalls and shoveling horse manure. We're farm kids out in Spokane, we don't know anything else.

G: Weren't you in a band in high school?

M: Yeah! Actually, Zia and I, the drummer, we were in a band in high school. We used to get up every morning and go to school, then play in the bars four hours a night, six nights a week. We've been out for a long time.

G: And they'd let you do that, even as H. S. kids?

M: Well, um, some of us had to lie about our age ...so that's how that worked.

DJ's chuckling...

G: That's extremely rock 'n roll

D: What was the name of that HS band?

M: Oh geez...it's probably the worst heavy metal band name of all time...which would be Bittersweet.

G: Did you have an umlaut over one of the "E's"? (it's that little double dot thingy that you only seem to see in English classes, or Motley Crue CD's, and I can't guarantee I spelled it right)

M: *giggle* Nooo, but that's a good idea, we should've done that!

Much chuckling from all...

D: Or an upside down E....

G: Yeah, an upside down E, that would be good, or a backwards E!

D: You guys are in mid-tour right now?

M: Yeah, we're out with Everclear, and American Hi-Fi.

G: We're also going to have you at Big Stink 6 out at Estacada Timberbowl...

M: Yeah, we're really looking forward to it!

G: Yeah, don't forget about that, it should be a lot of fun.

D: Well, right before that, actually the night before you play the Big Stink with us, you're gonna do a hometown show.

M: Yeah, we'll be in Spokane. It's gonna be great to get back to the Northwest. Right now, we're in Portland, Maine, and y'know, the East Coast is great, but we like the West Coast. We're definitely WC boys.

G: What do you miss the most about it?

M: The mullets. We miss the mullets in Spokane.

*laughing from all* D: I am *sure* there are mullets in Portland, Maine!

M: Yeah, there're a few, there are a few...but they don't have the cool perm in the back, like we have back home!

Mass laughter all around, D says "viva la west coast" D: Thank you so much for calling and checking in with us. We'll see you in, less than two weeks or something! Very short amount of time, but I can't count the days...but very soon, Aug 5th, Estacada Timberbowl. Thank you so much!

M: Great, thank you, you guys, take care.

G: Thanks, Myles...

Then a few minutes later they played "Loose Cannon".
