A band's relative ability to achieve success in the local music scene depends on several variables, one of which is radio support. For most local bands, the fifteen of requiste radio fame is exactly that, via a half-hour local music showcase. But for a few lucky acts, local radio has provided significant support. Two acts of note, Mayfield Four and Five Foot Thick at least at some reaped the benefits of local airplay. The Mayfield Four... is, well, the Mayfield Four. They have a Sony roster spot and two successful major label releases. You might say they're "good modern rock." Five Foot Thick gets regular play on ROCK 94.5 FM, and has sold over 2,000 copies of their debut release Circles. And it keeps selling, as the band recently ordered a pressing of another 1,000 to keep up with local demand. FFT also consistently packs out venues like no other live act in the area, major labels included. FFT probably couldn't be defined as "good modern rock," but they're a cozy fit with the smattering of G-core at the station.
